In the early morning of Tuesday May 12th 2009 the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 28 south, near Glacial Till Trail in the Municipality of Highlands East.
Officers attended the scene and located a silver Hyundai Elantra in the ditch with major damages. Investigation revealed that the Hyundai was stolen from a parking lot on Hastings Street North in the Town of Bancroft sometime after midnight.
Investigation also revealed that the suspects walked south on Highway 28 and may have been picked up by a passing motorist.
